The 2006-2007 school year marked a big change at PMEHS.

In November, Mr. Robert Lathrop retired. He had been teaching vocal music in the district for 32 years, and at PMEHS for 5 years.

In his absence in November and December, the members of the choirs rehearsed, prepared, planned, and performed their Winter Concert without a teacher. Seniors Alexis Kaczka, Michael Charnock, Emily Dus, and Aubrey Parry took it upon themselves to run rehearsals and plan their concert.

Mrs. Carrie Stein became the new director of vocal music at PMEHS on January 2 and was welcomed into the choir family. As she learned the ropes at PMEHS, the choir members busily prepared for their spring season, which included two concerts: the 5th Annual Prism Concert on February 15, and the spring Choral Concert on May 4.

Mrs. Stein started a few new traditions in her first few months at PMEHS. The senior members of the Concert Choir had the opportunity to perform in a Senior Recital for the entire music department on June 5. A small number of music students performed solos, duets, and small ensemble numbers, as well as a group song by the entire senior class of the choir. They also painted a 2007 mural that now hangs in the chorus room beside photos of the concert choir and the cast of the musical.
